The Peaceful
Place Day Centre is a voluntary organisation, which was set up to cater
for the recreational needs of physically active members of the community
with dementia.
The first centre
was opened in Shoeburyness in January 1996, since then due to demand
we are now open three days a week at different locations.
Tuesday: Shoebury
Baptist Church Hall, Caulfield Road.
Wednesday: Congregational
Church, North Street, Rochford
Thursday: Providence
Baptist Church Hall, East Street Prittlewell
Friday: Hadleigh
Baptist Church Hall, Beresford Gardens.
We now cover the
whole of the borough of Southend and the South East corner of Essex.
We offer a wide
range of activities including Snooker, Pool, Darts, Table Tennis, Bowls,
Quizzes, Cards, Cookery, Jigsaws, Music, Walking and Outings.
We have our own
mini-bus which enables us to take our members out for day trips (for
which a small charge is made) and to various pubs and restaurants for
lunch. This enables them to maintain their contact with the community
in which they live.
