OUR DREAM OUR AIM A LOVING CARE HOME

The Peaceful Place Day Care, Respite, Residential & Nursing Care Project

The Vision

Future plans:

It has been apparent to us for a while now that with no adequate provision by the Statutory Service Providers, there is an urgent need to provide specialised age appropriate respite, residential and nursing care in Essex for younger people suffering from dementia.
We appreciate that the service we currently offer only satisfies part of the need of our client group and because of the skills, experience and knowledge we have gained over the last eight years we know we are ideally placed to provide this care.

To fill this very desperate need we have identified a site where we plan to build our own purpose built facility to enable us to provide an increased level of flexible day care, appropriate respite and residential care and long term dedicated nursing care.

We would ultimately be providing a facility whereby dementia sufferers can gradually become accustomed to different levels of care and support but in the same place and by the same people – offering stability and familiarity thereby reducing the anxiety and confusion of being passed from one agency to another.

Our new state of the art centre will be focused on individual care and will offer:

  • Accommodation will be in 20 en-suite bedrooms.
  • 4 beds will be dedicated to respite care in a home from home environment.
  • A specialist hospice unit will deliver the full range of palliative care appropriate for this client group
  • Users of our popular day care service will enjoy the greater space afforded by the new centre, as well as additional facilities such as a crafts workshop and residents garden.
  • A wide range of professional services will be available in-house including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietary advice and the holistic complimentary therapies.
  • And by working in partnership with the dementia advocacy service, counselling and befriending groups we can ensure that our clients and their carers receive the very best information and advice.

Since our vision of The Peaceful Place of the future was conceived in November 2001 we have made enormous progress and have been very successful in winning support from charitable trusts and companies and the wider community

Our achievements in that time are amazing for such a small charity:

  • The current appeal total of £300,000 and is a tribute to the enthusiasm and commitment of all those who have been fundraising on our behalf.
  • We have been successful in securing a two year option on a site in Rayleigh and our plans have been resubmitted to Rochford District Council.
  • and I am very proud to say that we have been awarded £3 million as a grant and loan from Future Builders and Unity Bank.

We still need to raise the money to furnish the nursing home and to this end throughout the year we arrange various fund raising events and are always grateful for any help or new ideas to help raise even more money!
